 what will we do?
We will begin the tour by visiting the Revolution Square where some of the most important symbols of the Revolution, largely used by the Communist Party of Cuba, come together. The iconic photo of Che Guevara taken by Korda and the imposing statue of José Martí will definitely call your attention. This is the square where Fidel Castro used to address thousands of Cubans for hours, where you would go to a demonstration, a political rally, a mass, a concert; it is undoubtedly the main place of worship of the Revolution.
Next, we will go around the Cementerio de Colón (Columbus´Cemetery), famous for its many elaborately sculpted memorials and biggest cemetery in the island. We will ride through the residential neighborhood Nuevo Vedado where you will see some beautiful houses from the 50s.
You will be surprised to see Parque Almendares and the Forest of Havana, the so-called lungs of the city, a beautiful green forest which is also location for religious rituals and for quinceañeras (15-years old girls) to go on photo shoots. The Cuban Art Factory (FAC) will be a highlight on your way back; your guide will update you on this multi-functional space, the hotspot of the artistic-cultural scene of the city.
We will bike through the streets of Vedado, the business district of Plaza dominated mainly by modern buildings. We will briefly stop at John Lennon Park; this will be a great opportunity to take a pic with the famous Beatle. We will go down to the Malecón by the elegant promenade Paseo. Finally, we will bike along the Malecón, also known as Havana´s sofa, the most popular place in the city for locals to sit on, relax and enjoy themselves.
