what will we do?
Join our walk around a different side of the city. We will go through many of the streets where little private stores with all kinds of items associated to Santeria can be found. The Afro Cuban religion prevails in this part of town. We will go over a store, owned by a very successful entrepreneur, where you can buy interesting souvenirs or ask all the questions that you might come up with.
Something that will surely draw your attention is the somewhat sad mixture of feelings evoked by the beauty and decay of several buildings in this area. You will find out details both about the restoration process that has been taking place in the city over the last couple of years and the housing system on the island.
After a delicious authentic Cuban lunch in a private paladar, our last stop of the day will be at the community project called Barriohabana. You will visit one of the facilities benefited from this project (senior home, sports field, ecological classroom) and its leader will talk about the tremendous positive impact it has had on the elders´ and children´ lives in this community.
